Local Guinness Labels

It wouldn’t be an Irish blog without the mention of Guinness somewhere along the line.

These labels are from between 1951 and 1968 and both belong to pubs that no longer exist.

Guinness stopped letting local pubs bottle and label Guinness on site in 68′ due to new H&S laws coming in and any label prior to 51′ would have had a serial number on them. I think they stopped serial numbers because there was just too many individual places bottling and it was getting to difficult to keep track.

Mary I Adams was a small public house on Ballyclose Street, I can’t say where to be exact but has since been knocked down. O’Hara on the other hand still stands but is now The Thatch Bar.

I’ve been told there was 21 bars operating simultaneously and no doubt there is that many labels too.

The hunt is on.
